There is still no answer to problem of nuclear waste, which has cost the tax payer around 70 billion pounds to manage – money which would be better spent on developing renewable electricity and renewable heat sources as well as reducing demand for energy in our homes and in the transport sector.
In addition, the carbon intensity of mining for uranium and relative scarcity of this finite resource is rarely factored into the equation
